The Obstruction

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

“The Obstruction” is a work dedicated to the mix of feelings when one is stuck and struck by their own mind. To visualise both the invisible and visible representation of emotional eruption, the depiction of limited objects and specific images helps in constructing a visual of an emotional thinking process and coping mechanism. The linking between the figure sitting still with an unreal, obstructed facial distortion and the plinth holding up an interfered box television shows a vicious cycle that seems to be impossible to escape where things are trapped, including the chaotic noisy interference in the television, the sitting figure who is trapped with what is happening in the TV on the plinth, just because they are sitting next to it in a comparison composition, as well as our eyes which are also trapped in the uncertain stare of the figure and the eye-catching chaos that took place inside the box. However, the work also shows the other side of the reality of obstruction, that there may be light and solution for the situation, even the lightest, subtlest one. The soft lighting pours into the frame of work dedicated to the faith of good news and a reality of solutions will come. By using a limited palette, the work shows empathy with sadness and depression and challenging times that everyone in this world may have come to. With the choice of mixed media, the works show the variation in life and reality, in emotions and decisions - either focus or ignore the obstruction, and either fly away or fight against it.
